2019 New Rules:

Live Convert Rule:

In 2019 the defense on all converts will have the ability to steal the point(s) from the offence.  The defense has to just intercept the ball and return the ball to the original line of scrimmage with not being touched by an offensive player.  For example the Offence is attempting a two point convert from the ten yard line, the defense intercepts the ball in the end zone and returns it to the ten yard line:  the result is the defense steals the two Points.  Same goes for the single point attempt from the five yard line.  If any penalties are applied the defense only has to return the ball to the original line of scrimmage being the five for single point or the ten yard line for 2 points.

Overtime Rule:

In 2019 there will be no ties during the regular season. At the end of regulation time if the two teams are tied, the officials will call the two captains together and ascertain which end the teams wish to attempt the converts and flip a coin to determine sequence. Both teams will have 3 attempts, (5 yd line = 1 point / 10 yd line = 2 points) alternating. Prior to each attempt each team will let the HD official know 1 or 2 point attempt. Teams can choose 3 options of the ball placement: left hash, middle or right hash. After the 3 attempts per team the aggregate score of the three attempts plus any steals, will declared the winner.

Note: The defensive team can receive the point(s) if they intercept and return the ball back to the line of scrimmage with not being touched by any offensive player.

If the two teams are still tied after the three attempts the teams will continue to attempt the overtime rule format 1 play at a time in succession until a winner is declared. Coin toss again.
Note: The defensive team can receive the point(s) if they intercept and return the ball back to the line of scrimmage with not being touched by any offensive player.

Example:
  • Team A first attempt two points - Team B steals team A's two point attempt. Team A - 0; Team B - 2
  • Team B first attempt two points - Team B not successful. Team A - 0; Team B - 2
  • Team A second attempt two points - Team A successful.  Team A - 2; Team B - 2
  • Team B second attempt single point - Team B successful, Team A - 2; Team B -3
  • Team A third attempt two points - Team A successful.  Team A - 4; Team B - 3
  • Team B third attempt two points - Team B successful. Team A - 4; Team B - 5  (Team B is declared the winner)
